Joey Brenner
I am currently Local 600’s Central Region Director and have over 18 years of experience in the labor movement representing union members, formerly with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where I served as organizer, researcher, and Director of Bargaining and Organizing until November 2024. My previous work included organizing new unions, bargaining collective bargaining agreements, lobbying elected officials to advocated pro-worker stances, and representing workers in disciplinary cases including arbitrations. While I am new to Local 600, my goal is for members and staff to work together to win for all members.
Your National Executive Director, other Region Directors and I are required to represent Local 600 at the IATSE quadrennial convention and the IATSE district conventions. To ensure that we can effectively represent the membership we need to be elected as delegates.
During the 2024 Basic Negotiations Local 600’s team of Directors advocated for many improvements for members working in every genre, including those working in unscripted, and our publicists. The contract campaign included a robust communications and member outreach program, including our first member to member Contract Action Team (CAT). Contract enforcement and organizing are also a priority. Last year we settled over $3.8 million in claims and grievances for members, helped organize 121 non-union productions and organized a news broadcast station. With the current work slowdown, advocating for more industry work for our members in every region is a top priority. We are committed to enforcement, organizing, engagement at all levels of our union. This commitment and track record of success is what we will take with us to the IATSE conventions, representing our members and advocating for 600 in every way possible.
