Alex Tonisson

I am your National Executive Director, a 21 year veteran of the labor movement, and proud to represent the most talented camera professionals and publicists in the world.

My Story

I started with Local 600 in 2019 as the Western Region Director overseeing representation in the Western 13 states. Prior to joining Local 600, I served as Director of Field Services to the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE Local 21), where I ran the day-to-day field staff operations in all four of the union’s regional offices including, bargaining, contract enforcement and organizing. During that time I served as the co-chair of the Golden Gate Bridge Labor Coalition and was also appointed as a commissioner to the City and County of San Francisco Citizens’ Government Obligation Bond Oversight Committee. Before IFPTE Local 21, I gained invaluable organizing experience working all around the country as a Senior Political Community Organizer with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). My organizing career started when I helped pass the Mental Health Services Act(MHSA) as the Northern California Field Organizer on the statewide Proposition 63 campaign. Proposition 63(MHSA) was one of the first "Robin Hood" initiatives that has raised billions of dollars to support mental health services in California.
